Autumn Wedding at Alexander Homestead | Katie + Curtis
Katie and Curtis’ Alexander Homestead wedding was jokingly predicted from the start!
Curtis and Katie connected on OkCupid shortly before Christmas, but Katie had almost immediately turned her phone off for two weeks to really enjoy the winter break from classes alongside her family. Turning it back on on Christmas Day to wish some friends a Merry Christmas, she happened to jump on the app and saw that Curtis had messaged her twice, the last of which being “What if you were the one? We’ll never know because you didn’t respond!”
Not one to interrupt fate, Katie and Curtis went out for dinner as soon as she was back in town and have been together every day since. With a fairytale like that, it was no surprise to anyone when Curtis dropped to one knee in front of the Hogwarts castle at Universal Studios to ask Katie to be his wife.
Megan Olivieri is one of my most recommended vendors – the hair and make up that she did for Katie and her crew perfectly aligned with their personality and Katie’s vision, and nothing budged throughout the day. Talk about top notch service! Megan’s friendly demeanor made for such a welcoming, fun experience for everyone who sat in her chair. Even Mother of the Bride was laughing alongside her!
Katie and Curtis consider their first look one of the most anticipated moments of their wedding day. On our pre-wedding consult call, Katie told me how excited she was to be able to spend the day beside him and return to their home in Charlotte officially married. Whether or not you plan to see each other before walking down the aisle, carving out intentional time on your wedding day to soak in the moment of being married is a must in my book! It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that the two of you share.
After their wedding ceremony, the family gathered for photos beside Alexander Homestead’s stream before heading over to the barn to continue the celebration at cocktail hour. Charlotte didn’t disappoint this fall! I could hardly contain my excitement about the sunlight and the colors during Katie and Curtis’ portrait time with their wedding party. Alexander Homestead weddings couldn’t ask for a more beautiful fall day and cheery atmosphere!
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Katie and Curtis’ evening continued with an emotional mother/son dance and a packed dance-floor. We even caught the grandparents stealing kisses and twirling one another!
