As a Charlottesville wedding photographer, I’ve learned one thing: the most unforgettable weddings aren’t the ones that go perfectly. They’re the ones where the plan unravels, just a little, and something better sneaks in.

The Market at Grelen is already a stunner on a sunny day – but on a rainy one? It’s something else entirely: Moody. Romantic. Almost cinematic in its softness.

D’Arcy and Ethan’s wedding was exactly that. What started as a light, scattered drizzle turned into a full-on downpour just minutes before the ceremony. The original plan—an open-air celebration against Grelen’s iconic mountain view—had to pivot.

We moved under a white sail tent at Bloomfield, where guests reconnected and chatted to the soft sound of rain falling on the canvas above. As the music began, all eyes turned toward the bride and her brother as they walked through the field and down the aisle so that D’Arcy and Ethan could exchange handwritten vows beneath a chuppah tangled with climbing wildflowers.

After the ceremony, everyone headed up to the Orchard Overlook tent, muddy hems and all. The energy shifted from quiet romance to full-on celebration: packed dance floor, champagne clinking, and no one cared that their shoes were a little muddy.

No matter the weather or last-minute changes, I’m here to capture your story exactly as it unfolds. So, if you’re looking for a Charlottesville wedding photographer who will embrace the unexpected with you – Let’s connect!
